Ludovico Einaudi, composer and pianist. Ludovico Einaudi is a musical artist of Italian descent who is best known for his output of classical, pop, and jazz piano music. Ludovico Einaudi's father, Francesco Einaudi, was an Italian composer of classical music, and his mother, Maria Grazia Casanova, was an Italian singer of jazz, pop, and Brazilian music. His grandfather was Ludovico Casanova, a famous Italian opera composer. Ludovico Einaudi began playing the piano at the age of eight and was trained by his father. He started to play jazz in his teen years. Ludovico Einaudi first began composing music in his teenage years, and his first piano compositions were released by Columbia/ Sony in 1994. His first album, Gigantomachia, was released in 1995 and was certified gold in the US, selling more than 500,000 copies. Since then, he has been releasing an average of two albums per year, of which some are classical piano compositions, others are jazz, and a few are fusion between the two. His music style has changed over the years, due to influences from rock, blues, and jazz. While still composing the classical compositions that have made him popular, his music has become more accessible to the general public. Biography Einaudi was born in Genoa, Italy, on March 2, 1963, to Francesco Einaudi and Maria Grazia Casanova. When he was five years old, he started taking piano lessons from his father. At the age of eight, he began to study classical music with Bruno Giuranna. When he was 14, Einaudi began to study jazz with Italian jazz pianist Gino Marinuzzi. His first piano composition, "Moon River," was released by Columbia/ Sony in 1994, when he was only 20 years old. The album, Gigantomachia, was composed of symphonic piano pieces, and it was released in 1995. The album received critical acclaim, and it received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), selling more than 500,000 copies. His second album, Immanenza, was released in 1996. It was composed of 17 piano works that covered different genres, such as classical, jazz, and classical/ pop.
